McNice Creations is a specialized film production company based in Middlesbrough, UK, dedicated to exploring complex social issues through innovative storytelling, film, and art.

We rigorously test our screenplays with audiences throughout their development and actively seek collaborations with diverse talents to infuse fresh perspectives into our work.

Naisola Grimwood

Naisola Grimwood's first feature film, Living in Emergency, provided a platform for Médecins Sans Frontières, premiering at the Venice Film Festival and earning a spot on the Academy Award® shortlist. Her subsequent documentary short films on corruption and economics shed light on pressing global issues.

She has contributed to political comedy shows for networks like the BBC and Channel 4, co-wrote three political sitcom pilots for Blackadder director Richard Boden, and co-wrote a live comedy show on foreign aid, which premiered at the Sydney Opera House, sold out the Soho Theatre in London, toured schools, universities and comedy venues worldwide, and was invited to the Center for American Progress in Washington.

Driven by a passion for exploring the human condition, Naisola began her career at Miramax in New York, where she worked alongside directors such as Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, and Rob Marshall. Trained in performance by master clown Philippe Gaulier, she places profound value on connecting with audiences through the pleasure of play.

Leveraging a diverse skill set in film editing, screenwriting, and animation, she holds degrees in Journalism, Film, Broadcasting, and Animation.

Natalie Balck

Natalie brings a depth of experience in marketing, fundraising and project management.  

 

For the last 12 years, she has been the Head of Project and Partnerships for solar energy company, Sollatek Electronics Kenya Ltd based in East Africa, developing their regionwide marketing strategy, fundraising, and heading up solar implementation for rural communities. 

She successfully won and implemented several grant funded projects totaling over $600,000+ from United States African Development Fund (USADF), Power Africa, Energy & Environmental Partnership Africa (EEP) and Africa Energy Challenge Fund (AECF).

 

Natalie also project managed a £1.5M donor funded solar system install project bring power to 200 rural primary schools and 50 health clinics in Kenya. 

Before working in East Africa, Natalie was involved in Women’s Rights through her work with Amnesty International’s Stop Violence Against Women Campaign based in Washington DC.

 

Natalie was educated in the USA and the UK, holding a BA in Psychology and MA in International Development and Gender. 

Pivoting her career, Natalie is now applying her unique skill set to the marketing and finance side of McNice Creations.
